When to use a REALTOR®
A lot of folks I talk to don’t really know if they need a REALTOR® to rent their next place, or not.
In general:
If you’re renting an Apartment in a Complex you don’t need a REALTOR®.
If you’re renting a house condo or townhome, you generally do need a REALTOR®.
Using a REALTOR® is NOT required but theres a lot of stuff to know and a ton of paperwork that goes with renting anything in California so I would absolutely recommend it.
A REALTOR® will work with you as a tenant for FREE, there is no cost to you for using a REALTOR®. Some try to charge fees so keep an eye out for that. We get paid by the Listing Broker, not you. (Legal stuff I have to say: There are exceptions – but they’re rare.)
If you want to rent a house, townhome or condo a REALTOR® is the way to go!
